Media empire Fox, the parent company of Fox News, has leveraged the Polygon blockchain project to combat deepfakes, or AI-generated media reports, using automated tools that help verify articles and authentic images.
Fox on Tuesday launched an open-source protocol called “Verify” designed to determine the provenance and history of registered media, built on Polygon’s PoS blockchain. Verify, which is still in beta, is also said to help connect AI platforms with media companies.

Verify was developed by Fox’s technology team and is said to let readers know the origin of certain images, according to a press release.
“With verification, publishers can register content to prove its origin. Individual content is cryptographically signed on-chain, allowing consumers to use verification tools to identify content from trusted sources.”
