Starknet community supports Alpha 13.0, introducing STRK and ETH payment fees

The Starknet community, the Ethereum layer 2 network, has approved a vote to continue deploying the Alpha version 13.0 update on its mainnet.
This proposal has been received donate The voting rate of the delegates exceeded 99.8%, and it was passed overwhelmingly.
The v.13 update will introduce two transaction fee payment methods, STRK and Ether. Starknet core contributor Eli Ben-Sasson said the network plans to transition to exclusively using STRK to pay transaction fees.
The upgrade is expected to be deployed this Wednesday. However, STRK payment activation will be delayed until later when it becomes transferable.
In addition to laying the foundation for using STRK to pay fees, the v.13 upgrade is expected to reduce transaction costs and network performance. The research team stated that it has the ability to reduce transaction fees by 25-50%.
Starknet operates as a decentralized layer 2 network on Ethereum, using a zero-knowledge pool solution. The solution aggregates multiple transactions on the off-chain layer into a batch, which is then published on the Ethereum network.
The Starknet Foundation, the organization behind Starknet, plans to distribute 1.8 billion tokens to users as rewards and discounts by the end of this year, which may include community airdrops.
