In the Vietnam Seaport System Development Master Plan for 2021-2030 and the Vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Soc Trang Seaport is classified as a Category III seaport and belongs to Group 5 seaports. Potential plans to become a special seaport in the Trand district when it forms the gateway port to the Mekong Delta region.

Speaking at the meeting, Lin Wenwen, Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, believed that Tran Duc Hai Port plays a particularly important role in the development of Soc Trang Province and the entire Mekong Delta region. To this end, our province has concentrated its efforts, paid attention to, promoted and utilized all resources to implement this project.

Lin Wenwen asked the consulting unit to cooperate with the Provincial People’s Committee and various ministries and commissions to promote the relevant planning of Chen Dehai Port, ensure legal conditions, and ensure the early approval of the project.

The construction of the Trand Seaport is very necessary and will help eliminate bottlenecks in the transportation of import and export goods. The focus is on reducing logistics costs in the Mekong Delta region.

Trand Port has 2 investment projects: offshore port and port logistics service area. In the start-up phase, the project requires VND50 trillion in funding. The project is divided into 5 sub-projects.

According to preliminary assessment, according to the sand mining price plan, the total investment in the completion phase of Tran De Port Area is nearly 154 trillion VND. According to the market sand price plan, it exceeded 186 trillion VND.

Tran Van Liu, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Soc Trang Province, commented that the data in the pre-feasibility study report on Tran Dekang investment and construction is relatively complete, basic, specific and clear. Planning objectives have also been fully and uniformly calculated.

The Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People’s Committee asked the consulting unit to further clarify the project’s effectiveness and impact on the province and the entire Mekong Delta region.
