BitMEX makes history: sending Bitcoin to the moon!
[ad_1]
The universe is about to witness a historic event that will mark a major leap forward for cryptocurrency and space exploration. Cryptocurrency derivatives exchange BitMEX is preparing to send Bitcoin to the moon, scheduled to take place on January 8, 2024 at 14:18 (Vietnam time). This groundbreaking mission, in partnership with Astrobotic, Bitcoin Magazine and Oxcart Assembly, aims to demonstrate the potential of Bitcoin and blockchain technology to build financial systems that transcend planetary boundaries.
Main highlights
- Breakthrough Partnerships: BitMEX partners with Astrobotic, Bitcoin Magazine and Oxcart Assembly to promote cryptocurrency integration and space exploration.
- Symbol of innovation: The payload of 43 grams of physical Bitcoin, carrying 1 BTC (worth approximately $45,000 as of January 8, 2024), will land on the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Vulcan rocket and the commercial lunar lander Peregrine-1 Moon surface. Estimated arrival date is February 23, 2024.
- Live and interactive live broadcast: Live coverage of the seven-week lunar orbital phase will be broadcast on NASA TV, providing a unique opportunity to witness this historic event.
BitMEX CEO Stephan Lutz emphasized the importance of this mission, describing Bitcoin on the Moon as a time capsule encapsulating human innovation and technological progress. He expects this to be the first step in establishing a space economic and monetary system.
Lutz expressed excitement about this epic leap, saying:
“Perfectly preserved for future generations, Bitcoin on the Moon is a time capsule recording one of humanity’s most important technological innovations and advances. This decisive leap is just the beginning of a new era.”
BitMEX co-founder Samuel Reed emphasized the partners’ commitment to pushing the boundaries of exploration. He hopes this will inspire a new wave of innovators and pioneers, driving a future where cryptocurrency and space exploration merge, and fueling the development of Bitcoin beyond Earth.
Unique incentives for the community
BitMEX’s physical Bitcoin is one of 201 payloads (the data portion of a packet transmitted between two partners), including those from governments, companies, universities, and NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Program service (which sends cargo to the moon program). It will carry a public address and private keys, becoming the first financial asset to land on the lunar surface.
Coin will reside on the moon alongside Peregrine, inviting the crypto community and future generations to interact with it. BitMEX invites individuals to send personal messages and their own satoshis from Earth and elsewhere to the moon, symbolizing the connection between Earth and extraterrestrial financial systems.
