Launched in 2018 by former Siemens mechanical engineer Hayden Adams, the Uniswap blockchain operates using the Solidity programming language, a popular choice for many decentralized finance (defi) projects on the Ethereum platform.
Offering users the ability to provide liquidity to pools and trade pairs of decentralized tokens, including native crypto-to-cryptocurrencies and crypto-to-stablecoins, Uniswap stands out for its open-source nature, which encourages input from a diverse community contribution. The project has since attracted more than 3 million unique senders.
The thread continues, highlighting Tether as the second protocol. It witnessed 33.6 million sends from 6.2 million unique addresses, making it a prominent player in the Ethereum ecosystem, followed by Opensea, Metamask, and 1inch.
Notably, aggregator 1inch has become the most used project, while Banana Gun, a project recently introduced in 2023, recorded 1.5 million swaps, ranking ninth on the list.
In a follow-up post, the Coinbase director cited Dune’s analysis, listing a compilation of the top 20 individual contracts, with Uniswap leading the top three.
