Bitcoin ETF could spur investment from non-crypto owners

one Report A new release from cybersecurity research organization Security.org shows that Americans’ adoption of cryptocurrencies is growing, and expectations for the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF may play a key role.

Security.org said that according to a poll of 1,500 Americans, 40% of them now own cryptocurrency, which is 10% higher than last year’s poll. Among those who are not currently using cryptocurrencies, 15% said they plan to buy some cryptocurrencies this year, and 21% said they would be more likely to invest if a spot Bitcoin ETF were approved.

According to the survey, 46% of respondents said they believe the approval of a Bitcoin ETF in 2024 will have a positive impact on the blockchain industry.

There are currently 13 spot Bitcoin ETF applications awaiting approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, with the earliest decision deadline being January 15. Candidates include BlackRock, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton and other giants. Bitcoin prices have been rising over the past two months as the possibility of approval looms.

Application trends

According to Security.org, 63% of current cryptocurrency owners expect to buy more cryptocurrencies in the next year, primarily Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and Cardano.

Security.org said its survey found that cryptocurrency owners tend to be young and mostly male, although the number of women buying cryptocurrencies has increased in the past year.

“This increase may be due to women becoming more interested in blockchain development news and investing in cryptocurrency and blockchain companies,” said Unchained Podcast host Laura Shin, founder and CEO of Ark Invest, and Crypto-friendly Senator Cathie Wood. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and SEC Commissioner Hester Pierce are examples.
