Solana airdrop scams on the rise: Nest Wallet CEO loses $125,000

Amid a wave of increased trading activity on the Solana network, there has also been an increase in airdrop scams.
CEO Nest Wallet Became the victim of a phishing attack today and lost $125,000 in a fake LFG token airdrop campaign. The scam targets Ethereum users migrating to Solana, luring victims through a fraudulent website. Like several other users, Nest Wallet CEO Bill Lou was deceived by a Google link. In his post, Lou requested the help of popular blockchain investigators including ZachXBT.
This particular scam gained credibility because of its timing. The LFG project did announce an actual airdrop earlier today, and Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko also shared the news on his X account. The LFG project also acknowledged the scam and called on users to be vigilant, urging them to report any impersonation.
In addition, scam attempts involving other projects on the Solana network have also been reported. A user on X shared a close call related to the scam Jupiter Exchange Airdrop, a decentralized trading platform on Solana.
These incidents should serve as a warning to the community to be wary of offers that seem too good to be true and to verify the veracity of airdrop claims.
